Valle Selva dei Molini and its surroundings

The farming culture has always been a huge part of the Valle Selva dei Molini landscape and the life of its inhabitants. The path that crosses the valley leads to ancient agricultural farms, mills and secluded sawmills – bearing silent witness to a lifestyle that has not always been easy. There are two very popular themed routes: “Power of water” is a circular route that goes around Lake Selva, while “Water and the wheel” is a route that leads to the ancient sawmill. In winter, cross-country skiers take the trail that leads from Selva dei Molini to Lappago. There is plenty to keep children happy at the Tamarix Family Park, where they will have the chance to learn and try different winter sports.

Our suggestion for a trekking route: At the Malga Passen, via Zösenbichl

Duration: 6.5 hours
Trails number: 20 and 31
Starting point: Lappach - last bus stop
Intermediate stop: Malga Passen
Destination: Lappago

Route: From the Lappago bus stop, proceed for 1.5 km towards Lago di Neves, until you reach a narrow curve to the right. At this point, take path no. 20 which leads into the Zösental valley (Valle Cesia); you pass the Malga Mair zu Hof going west to the end of the valley. When you reach the fork in the path, go left to the forest road in the direction of Flemm; you pass by the dried up lake of Flemm and then go uphill towards the Eggespitz. You pass Zösenbichl and go through the woods, then downhill towards the road that leads to the Passen hut. Here you can have a rest and a snack. At this point the road crosses the Passen torrent, leaves the buildings behind on the right, then goes downhill through the woods along path No. 31 as far as Lappago di Sotto.
